Institutions

RE:ANIMA is promoted by a consortium that integrates three Higher Education Institutes that are all full members of GEECT - Groupe European des Écoles de Cinema et Television and CILECT - Centre International de Liaison de Écoles de Cinema et Television, the two main international associations of Higher Education institutions in these areas and those that concentrate the top ranked schools all over the world.

The consortium that was developed around RE:ANIMA has a European wide representation (LUCA School of Arts, Universidade Lusófona and IADT are also part of the FilmEU – European Universities Alliance for Film and Media Arts) and covers both strong and more deprived animation markets, while assuring a clear balance from the geographical, linguistic and cultural points of view.

Universidade Lusófona

Film And Media Arts Department

Universidade Lusófona, Film and Media Arts Department was created in 1996 within the Communication, Architecture, Arts and Information Technologies School to promote training and theoretical/applied research in the fields of communication and art, namely in areas which are related with the use of film and new digital media. The department is committed to providing hands-on specialised skill training, to foster individual and collaborative creative growth, and to serve as a testing ground for the application of emerging film and media technologies.

The department promotes both initial, continuous and advance training in the different areas of animation, film and media creation and development, besides being actively engaged in several research projects with partners and organisations at a national and international level.

The film and media arts department offer state-of-the-art facilities and equipment in the midst of a vibrant environment that nourishes students’ talent and their thirst for creative and technical fulfilment. The department and the students’ productions are regularly funded by the Portuguese Film Institute (ICA) and the university is a full member of CILECT – Centre International de Liaison des Écoles de Cinéma et de Télévision and GEECT – Groupement Européen des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision. Universidade Lusófona is the leader of this consortium.
