Course Classes
Creative Animation Atelier I
Course Aims
- Students gain a practical understanding of how to apply principles of narrative, structure, and dramaturgy to the production of animation within a form of their choice.
- Students learn to generate socio-culturally reflective ideas and develop these into an animation concept and prototype.
- Students develop multicultural sensitivity and apply it while working within an international production team.
Course Content
Students explore the principles of narration, dramaturgy, and structure, applying them to a wide range of animation storytelling forms, including classical, abstract, poetic, and interactive approaches.
Working in groups of three to four, students create an audiovisual narrative in a form of their choice and develop it through multiple production stages toward a functional prototype. Each stage reflects the requirements and creative processes associated with the chosen storytelling form.
Groups are intentionally heterogeneous, bringing together students from different nationalities and cultural-artistic backgrounds. Dialogue, confrontation, similarities, and juxtaposition between their contexts serve as starting points for the expanded narratives they develop.
The resulting prototype should demonstrate a hybrid of stylistic and thematic influences while reflecting on the diverse realities represented within each group.
