Animation Film Management
In this course we focus on the initiation phase of animation film production. Students learn how to pitch a project and to develop an idea into a film concept that can be communicated to stakeholders in the (expanded) animation film sector. This includes the following aspects: (1) introduction to the basics of making a budget; (2) elaborating a realistic production schedule; (3) creation of a production map; (4) listing the main stakeholders relevant to their project: producers, possibilities for funding, socio-economic valorization. We provide an overview of all instances in the commercial, artistic and socio-cultural sectors that are relevant to animation film production. Additionally students are required to investigate the specific challenges and opportunities that apply to their own project: characteristics of their own cultural context; requirements of the film style they want to work in; possibilities relating to the social-cultural topics they will tackle.
